The Montreal trio—Emmanuelle Proulx, Jessy Caron, and Dragos Chiriac—known collectively as Men I Trust, belongs to that rare breed of bands capable of sounding both utterly present and completely elusive at once. With a delicately crafted blend of bedroom pop, gauzy atmospheres, and soft ’80s synths, they create the perfect backdrop for Proulx’s cool, breathy voice. Yet beneath the tranquility, something foreboding stirs—an intimation that their music, however soothing on the surface, shelters a quiet darkness.
In an era when the word indie is tossed around with abandon, Men I Trust stand out as true purists. They write, produce, and release everything themselves. The same is true of their latest album, Equus Caballus, a work praised for its refined emotional clarity. Here, the band moves with a newfound assurance: the songs feel both shimmering and majestic, as though their signature restraint has finally found a rhythmic momentum to lean into.
The concert is organized by Luger.
