Masego

Few artists have done more to shape the sound of modern soul than Masego. With his distinctive hybrid of jazz, trap, electronica, and the sensual R&B style known as Quiet Storm, the American-Jamaican singer, saxophonist, and producer established a musical universe entirely of his own from an early stage. During the summer of 2026, Masego will release a new project, and on February 15, he will come to Fållan in Stockholm for a concert.

Masego’s so-called TrapHouseJazz manages to sound deeply contemporary and organically alive at the same time — driven as much by programmed beats as by saxophones, live instrumentation, and improvisation. This was already evident on his 2018 debut album, “Lady Lady,” where romantic fantasies and musical curiosity were woven together into one of the decade’s most beloved soul albums. And with the now-modern classic “Tadow,” recorded together with FKJ, Masego cemented his place in contemporary music history.

His Grammy-nominated self-titled album, “Masego,” released in 2023, showed that much of what made his debut so endearing was still there, while also revealing that the artist behind the music had changed. The record was more introspective and more vulnerable, without sacrificing either its playfulness or its musical inventiveness.

No new album has yet been announced, but singles such as “Unhinged,” “I Win,” “MASTERPIECE,” and “Spin The Block” point toward an exciting new horizon. At its best, the music sounds like both the future and the past at once — a balancing act few artists master better.
