Lundqvist’s music is characterized by its introspective and emotional nature, often exploring themes of loss, grief, and personal reflection. The album Sorgetornets spejare is a clear example of this. With songs such as Järtecken and En liten pojke, he not only delivers musical favorites that received extensive radio play, but also uses music as a way to illuminate his own inner journey through life’s difficulties. The album features a tightly compressed and focused soundscape, where Lundqvist experiments with both new and familiar sonic textures. Songs such as Förvirrad varg and Liljekonvalj demonstrate his constant desire to renew his artistic expression and create something genuine and powerful.
Lundqvist has always followed his own path, both as an artist and as a person, describing his creative work as impulsive—an expression of his inner drive and his need to process what he experiences.
After an extensive tour featuring numerous sold-out shows in the autumn of 2024, Jonas returned to the live stage in 2025 with acclaimed performances at Mosebacketerrassen in Stockholm and Gothenburg Film Studios in Gothenburg. The same year, he was also featured in the documentary film Ner till min far, which offered an intimate look into his personal life and artistic practice. In the film, he explores themes of grief, loss, and what it means to be a parent while mourning one’s own parents.
On June 12, Jonas Lundqvist will release the single Glaciär, the first preview of his upcoming album Dog för några år sen, which will be released on October 23. The album will be followed by a tour with performances in Uppsala, Malmö, Gothenburg, and Stockholm, marking the next chapter in a career that has consistently followed its own path for more than three decades.
