For 20 years, Baroness has secured their place in our playlists, and in 2023, the band returned with their sixth album, "STONE," delivering the rock we're accustomed to with a touch of more contemplative and groovy tracks.

John Baizley (guitar/vocals/illustration) founded Baroness in 2003 in Georgia, where the local punk/hardcore scene thrived, providing Baroness the opportunity to claim its rightful spot. In early 2007, they signed with the indie label Relapse Records, releasing three albums before forming their own label, Abraxan Hymns.

On the new album "STONE," they take us back to the basics and adopt a DIY approach. Instead of taking the band to a proper studio, Baizley transformed an Airbnb apartment in Barryville into an improvised recording space with its large, arched ceilings, wooden floors, and brick/glass walls.

"A key aspect of Baroness is that we don't like to repeat ourselves," says founder John Baizley. "It's all about taking risks. When I was younger, the whole point of music was to be different, to find new risks and exciting ideas to explore, and to follow your own impulses rather than playing by the rules. It's a bit silly, but it works in practice. It's really scary to be on the sixth album in your career and think that you have to keep up with your history instead of constantly reinventing yourself. So we doubled down on constantly reinventing to see where it takes us. I think this album is a good reflection of that. STONE is much more alive, more direct."

Now, as Baroness enters their 20th year, they are tighter than ever with Baizley (guitar/vocals), Gina Gleason (guitar), Nick Jost (bass), and Sebastian Thomson (drums), and we can't wait to see the band kick ass when they come to Trädgår'n in Gothenburg on October 29th and Fållan in Stockholm on October 30th!

The concert is organized by FKP Scorpio.
